Every Youth Deserves a Trained Leader

One of the important tasks you are asked to do as you join and continue to be a part of scouting is to be a trained leader because our youth depend on it and depend on YOU to keep them safe and provide a FUN, and engaging program. And, let’s face it, training makes your job as a leader fun and easier as well!

Trained leaders understand Scouting America’s mission, vision, purpose, methods and values. Trained leaders deliver the promise of scouting to our youth – the promise of adventure, leadership and growth.  A trained leader is knowledgeable and more confident in the role being performed.  Trained leaders impact the quality of programs, safety, and a whole lot more.

A trained leader is best prepared to make Scouting all it can be!

Safeguarding Youth and Mandated Reporter Training (AB506) are required for all registered adults. Check out New Volunteer Onboarding for those new to Scouting.

Hazardous Weather Training is a requirement for all adults that work directly with youth.

Adult leaders in units are considered “Trained” and eligible to wear the official Trained emblem when they have completed Safeguarding Youth Training and an appropriate, position specific training course. The courses are available online – login to your My.Scouting account. We also offer classroom instruction.

Complete the training you need to earn your ‘TRAINED’ strip.

From time to time, we have one-off events as well as invitations from other Councils for our members to participate in events that they sponsor. We’ll post them here for you to check out.
