The course is an important and enjoyable part of the basic preparations for a Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, or any registered adult leader working in direct contact with Scouts.

It covers the outdoor skills expected of a New Scout through First Class Scout. The skills sessions presented in Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills closely follow the Scout Handbook.

Working as patrols, this hands-on course provides adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain their First Class rank. Along with Scoutmaster Specifics this course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Scouting America Troops in order to be considered  . . .
